Fitting shelves

Shelves in kitchens and other areas must sometimes support large weights, which requires a suitable means of attachment to the wall. Fixings and screws are the best choice for this task. Another alternative is to first install shelving tracks on the wall (available in building supply stores). Then simply hang your shelves in these tracks.

How to proceed:

Use a spirit level to accurately mark the attachment points.

Before drilling, make sure that there are no cables or pipes behind the wall. For this purpose we recommend using a metal finder

When drilling in concrete, switch on the impact mechanism.

Remove the dust from the holes with a vacuum cleaner (a dust blower or simply by blowing). Be careful to avoid getting dust in your eyes.

Insert the fixing and tap lightly with a hammer to make sure that the fixing is properly seated in the hole.

Using appropriately sized screws hang the shelves.

To connect two or more sets of shelves, use a small wood drill bit to drill small holes completely through the side walls of the shelves and then screw them together. Always use screws that have a force bearing piece, such as a washer. If you do not wish to drill holes completely through your shelves, you can connect the shelf units to each other with simple wood screws.

Equipment required:

To drill in masonry, you'll need your Bosch impact drill.
In addition: Masonry drill bit
(diameter 6 to 8 mm),plastic fixings (diameter 6 to 8 mm) suitable screw hooks (see the manufacturer's specifications on the fixing's packaging) and a wood drill bit (diameter 3 mm).
