Depth stop
The depth stop is a useful accessory when drilling. You
can set it to exactly the depth you want to drill. That
way, the hole will only be as deep as the job requires.
This is especially important when you drill into thin
materials, but do not want the hole to go completely
through. The Bosch impact drills have a depth stop as
standard equipment. You can purchase replacements at Bosch
retailers or building supply centres. |

Drilling angle controller
When drilling, it is sometimes difficult to drill exactly
perpendicular to the wall. To be safe, use a drilling
angle controller. For example, you can place this device
directly onto the work piece and then easily drill a hole
that is exactly vertical. But if you would like to drill
at an angle, you will do this with equal precision. You
can adjust the controller to drill at an angle as narrow
as 15 degrees. You can source a drilling angle controller
for your Bosch impact drill through any Bosch
retailer. |

Drill Stand
Impact drills can be clamped into a drill stand, which
itself can be attached securely to the workbench. When
using a drill stand, you can drill precisely into the work
piece because the drill cannot slide.
In addition, the drill stand allows you to precisely
control the depth of the holes you drill because the drill
stand has an integrated depth stop. You can find a drill
stand for your Bosch impact drill at any good power tool
retailer. |

Drill bit types
The most common drill bits are called twist drill bits
because of their appearance. It is important to
distinguish between HSS (High-Speed Steel) drill bits and
masonry drill bits. Type S (soft) HSS drill bits are used
for soft materials like wood, plastic, and aluminium;
steel and other hard materials are drilled with type N
(normal) or type H (hard) HSS drill bits. Masonry drill
bits have TC (Tungsten Carbide) tips and are used for
impact drilling.
There are many other types of drill bits that are designed
for specialised tasks. Core cutters or hole saws are used
to drill large holes with a diameter of 25 mm or greater.
Countersink bits automatically create recesses for
countersunk screws. Tile bits are used for drilling in
smooth and brittle materials. You can find the drill bit
that is right for your application at any good power tool
retailer. |
