Tips & Tricks |

Start slowly
Start driving screws or drilling slowly (i.e. with a low
rotational speed, and gradually increase the speed). Press the
main switch of your BOSCH Cordless Screwdriver or Impact
Drill/Driver only slightly at the start. The more firmly you
press the main switch, the faster the machine drives screws or
drills. This enables you to start cleanly and prevents the
screwdriver bit from slipping out of the screw or the drill bit
from slipping away from the marked position. |

Hold the machine correctly
Always hold the BOSCH Cordless Screwdriver and Cordless Impact
Drill/Driver in a straight position and press it perpendicular
to the surface of the wall or of the work piece. BOSCH Cordless
Impact Drills/Drivers have an auxiliary handle. You can use this
to increase the pressure you apply to the tool and have it
better under control. It does not slip away from you so easily. |

Drive screws with the right bit
When driving screws, using the wrong bits
leads to rapid destruction of the screw head. You should
therefore ensure that you have not only the right shape
(slotted, cross-head, hexagon socket or Torx) but also the right
size. |

Use the right screws
Depending on the material and how you attach something, you
should ensure that you are using the appropriate screws. The
plaster in plasterboard, for example, corrodes non-oxidised
screws. For this reason, use black oxidised dry wall screws. The
diameter and length of the screws must also be chose carefully:
if the screws are too long, they will pass right through the
work piece. If they are too thick, they can split thin wood. |

Easier drilling in metal
On smooth surfaces such as metal, it is easy for the drill bit
to slip slightly and then you drill in the wrong place. To avoid
this, first knock a small hole in the metal. Normally you use a
punch for this - a steel rod with a surface for hammer blows at
one end and a sharp tip at the other. You then place the drill
bit in this small hole. In the case of hard material, you can
'pilot drill' with a small diameter drill bit and then complete
your drilling with a drill bit of the correct diameter. |

Charge the battery correctly
So that the battery pack of your BOSCH Screwdriver has the
longest possible service life, it must be treated properly. The
greatest danger to a battery pack is from heating during
'overcharging'. To avoid this, BOSCH supplies all cordless
screwdrivers and impact drill/drivers with an 'intelligent'
quick charger. This detects the remaining charge of the battery
pack and stops the current flow as soon as it is fully changed. |
