You can use a beeswax solution or solid beeswax to refine furniture made of raw wood. The advantages: it absorbs room humidity, can release it again as required and thus ensures a healthy room climate. However, damaged furniture must be renovated thoroughly before waxing: although painting can cover smaller blemishes, the wooden surface remains visible when waxing.
Proceed as follows: |
First of all, clean the surface using warm water and a coarse scrubbing brush. Always scrub in the direction of the grain. For wax, glue or resin stains, dissolve some household soap in hot water. Wipe off the soap residue on the furniture using clean water. |
You do not have to wash down clean wood, but you should water it to bring up the wood fibres for the subsequent sanding run. Then leave the piece of furniture to dry completely. |
Place the adapter as a soft intermediate layer on the sanding plate of the BOSCH Random Orbit Sander. Stick a sanding sheet with a grit of 60 onto the sanding plate and sand the surface of the piece of furniture smooth. Do not press the random orbit sander too hard onto the wood, otherwise this can cause dents and scratches on the work piece. Then resand using grits of 120 and 240. To finish with, remove the sanding dust thoroughly using a brush. |
Replace the sanding sheet on the random orbit sander with the polishing sponge. Apply the wax thinly onto the wood in the direction of the grain using a paintbrush. Then rub it in in circular motions using a soft cloth. The wax should dry for two to three hours. Now use your BOSCH Random Orbit Sander with the polishing sponge and rough-polish the wax. Caution: do not press the sanding tool too hard onto the work piece, otherwise there will be burn marks! Now repolish the wood using the lambswool bonnet. The more frequently you wax and polish, the more silky the shine. |
