Sanding and polishing car paint

Do you want to repair small scratches on your paintwork or has your car lost its shine? With the Random Orbit Sander from BOSCH, you can polish curved surfaces very well because it adapts to any shape.

Proceed as follows:

First of all, you should thoroughly clean your vehicle or the part you want to work on. Take a good look at the paint: is it just a scratch or also rust that you want to remove?

If rust has set in where the scratch is, you will have to sand out the affected area. Stick a white:Paint sanding sheet with a grit of 240 onto the sanding plate of your BOSCH Random Orbit Sander. Apply a polishing paste to the paint. Spread the paste using the BOSCH Random Orbit Sander while it is still switched off.

Sand very carefully. Pay attention not to go too deep, otherwise you will break through the paint and it will be expensive to repair it.

Rework the sanded area with sanding paper with a grit of 320. Smaller bumps should be smoothed out using fine filler and then sanded again with a grit of 320 or cleaned with a cleaning fleece.

After sanding and cleaning, replace the sanding sheet with a polishing felt and apply a high-gloss polish bit by bit. Spread this polish again using the random orbit sander while it is switched off. Now you can start with the actual polishing.

Wipe the parts that have already been polished using a clean, dust-free cloth. In this way, you can tell the difference between the areas that have already been polished and the areas that have not yet been polished. If you want to make your car's paintwork really shine, use a lambswool bonnet. Once you have finished polishing, rub your car down again to finish with using a clean, dust-free cloth.
