To work with BOSCH Rotary Hammers, you need special
drill bits with SDS-plus shanks. These transfer the power
of the machine onto the drill hole so efficiently that no
power is lost. Some hammers are supplied with an
additional . quick-change
chuck This can replace the SDS-plus tool holder and
will hold conventional drill bits with straight shanks.
You can use the BOSCH Rotary Hammer to drill holes in
very hard materials, such as concrete, but also in
masonry, wood or metal. Fit a corresponding drill
bit depending on the material you want to drill.
Rules of thumb: |
|
|
|
|
Hard materials (concrete, masonry):
masonry bit, hammering function |
|
|
|
Soft materials (soft masonry such as
aerated concrete, wood, plastic, but also metal):
HSS
drill bitdrilling function- Tile & soft masonry:
Karat multi purpose bits, drilling function |
|
|
Before drilling, you should also establish the diameter
and depth the hole is to have. Choosing the right drill
bit depends on this as well as on the material you want to
drill.
Small
hole diameter: higher rotational speed
Large
hole diameter: lower rotational speed
When drilling in sensitive materials, it is a great
help to be able to limit the maximum speed. This is why
many main switches have a small wheel built into them.
This small wheel prevents you from pulling the main switch
right back. The further you turn it down, the shorter the
so-called control stroke becomes - and the lower the
maximum speed. NB: If your machine has a small wheel of
this kind and you are no longer satisfied with the power
output, check the setting of the wheel before you take it
in for repair. In many cases, the reason for the machine
having too little power is that the speed was limited the
last time it was used. |
