The great advantage of the BOSCH Compact Belt Sander is its compact design: small, light and handy. You can sand in hard-to-reach work piece surfaces such as corners or edges easily and quickly with this tool. This makes the BOSCH Compact Belt Sander the ideal tool for sanding down frames. 

The BOSCH Compact Belt Sander is in principle a belt sander, whose sanding belt runs over a wedge-shaped sanding plate. Depending on what you want to sand, you will need the appropriate sanding paper. In principle, you should start with a coarse sanding belt and then select a finer grit with each subsequent sanding run. Rule of thumb: with each subsequent sanding run you should select a grit that is twice as fine, example grit sequence: 60 120 240.

The sanding belt functions like the crawler on a bulldozer. In this way, the BOSCH Compact Belt Sander can be used on both sides: one in the direction towards yourself, one in the direction away from yourself. You can also use it for bench-mounted sanding, for example, of individual pieces of wood or curves. BOSCH offers a sub-frame as an accessory, into which you can clamp the tool.

Before you start sanding, select the maximum speed via the setting wheel. This determines how fast the sanding belt runs. You can change the speed during operation. Select a low speed if you want to remove paint, for example. If the sanding plate runs too fast, the friction is very high, the paint gets hot, melts and gets stuck in the sanding sheet. The same applies for soft materials. A high speed ensures a high material removal rate. In general, setting is a matter of feeling: If the tools runs too fast, feel free to switch down one or two steps. 

Given that you work on rather smaller surfaces with the BOSCH Compact Belt Sander, less dust is created than on large work pieces. Nevertheless, you should always use a dust extractor when working. This ensures that the dust that you would otherwise breathe in or would otherwise fly into your eyes lands in the dust bag. You can easily connect a BOSCH All-Purpose Vacuum or a household vacuum cleaner to the corresponding mechanism on your BOSCH Compact Belt Sander using a hose.
