Cardboard boxes, paper bags, chipboard and other wood-based products - the FSC® logo is something you may have come across in everyday life. But what does it actually stand for? Victor Jibrin, project manager in the sustainability team at Bosch Power Tools, explains what is behind the certification and how it is connected with the abrasives segment of Bosch Power Tools.

Traceability and transparency in the supply chain – from the raw material to the end product – are fundamental aspects of our sustainability strategy. For this reason, we at Bosch Power Tools work with international certification systems such as the Forest Stewardship Council, or FSC® for short. This non-governmental organization promotes environmentally friendly, socially responsible and economically viable forest management.

We reached our first important milestone in 2022 when we FSC®-certified our paper-based abrasives in Europe. This relates to all paper-based abrasives manufactured after 09/2021, with the exception of the C410, C420, C422, C423 lines, which are not currently certified. Expansion into the USA, Canada and Mexico already followed at the end of 2023. This means Bosch Power Tools is making an important contribution to sustainable forestry and can guarantee that the paper used to manufacture our abrasives comes from well-managed, FSC®-certified forests and other controlled sources.

Summary

Large parts of our abrasives in Europe, the USA, Canada and Mexico are certified with the FSC® MIX label. This means that we contribute to sustainable forestry and guarantee that the paper we use comes from FSC®-certified forests, controlled sources and recycled materials.
