Sanding and Sanding Functions

The BOSCH Delta Sander takes care of work in hard-to-reach places for you that you previously had to struggle to do by hand. It is excellently suited to furniture manufacture and restoration. With its small, triangular sanding plate you can work on complex shapes at points. In principle, the BOSCH Delta Sander is a smaller version of the orbital sander. With its rod shape and narrow handle, the BOSCH Delta Sander is especially handy and suitable for small surfaces. It enables you to get into tight spaces: the oval sanding finger manages any curve and the flat finger fits into the tightest gaps, not only in window shutters.

Depending on what you want to sand, you will need the appropriate sanding paper, also called coated abrasive. Simply stick it onto the velcro-type sanding plate. As a rule, you should begin sanding using a coarse grit and then select a finer grit for each sanding run. As a rule of thumb, you should select a grit that is twice as fine for every subsequent work step. Example: grit sequence 40  80  180  360  600  1200.

Before starting to sand, set the orbital stroke rate via the BOSCH Electronic. To do this, select the appropriate orbital stroke rate on the setting wheel. You can even change the orbital stroke rate during operation. Select a low speed if you want to remove paint, for example. If the sanding plate moves too fast, the friction is very high, the paint gets hot, melts and gets stuck in the sanding sheet. The same applies for soft materials. A high orbital stroke rate ensures a high material removal rate. In general, setting is a matter of feeling: If the tools removes material too fast, feel free to switch down one or two steps.

Given that you work on rather smaller surfaces with the delta sander, less dust is created than on large work pieces. Nevertheless, you should always use a dust extractor when working. This ensures that most of the dust that you would otherwise breathe in or would otherwise fly into your eyes lands in the dust bag. You can easily connect a BOSCH All-Purpose Vacuum or a household vacuum cleaner to the corresponding mechanism on your BOSCH Delta Sander using a hose.
